Qualified as a solicitor in 1971 and has been working in Melton Mowbray to date. As a solicitor, Howard has carried out: regular police prosecutions, prior to the creation of the CPS; regional prosecutor for Health and Safety Executive Agricultural division; ad hoc prosecutions for DHSS; Clerk of two Divisions of Tax Commissioners for a period of circa 25 years; all aspects of civil litigation in the High Court and County Court, especially personal injury claims, acting for claimants and sometimes insurers; representation and advocacy in Tribunal – Employment, Land, Rent, Rate Appeals, Pension Ombudsman, Mental Health and Planning appeals. Representation at disciplinary hearings: RFU, Cricket Club, Jockey Club and Charity Commission applications.
In recent years, Howard has worked in the following areas: All aspects of family law, divorce, children cases; Probate – Will writing, trusts, administration of estates; Employment law – all aspects, employer and employee; Criminal law defence work and advocacy in all cases.
